The Popsy Teacher Project
Help us create something designed with teachers, for teachers
We want teachers to help shape future Popsy designs, tell us what creativity looks like in today's classrooms and help us bring practical creative experiences into schools.
Take the Teacher SurveyTeachers have always been an important part of Popsy
We regularly hear from teachers who wear Popsy in the classroom, whether it is because they love colour, need practical clothing with pockets, or because a particular print helps start conversations with pupils.
Now we want to take that relationship further.
We are launching a project exploring creativity in schools, teacher style, classroom connection and the role businesses can play in giving pupils more practical creative experiences.
There are three ways to get involved
1. Share your experience
Take our teacher survey and tell us about creativity in schools, classroom connection, teacher style and what support you would like to see from businesses.
2. Help us design
Selected teachers will be invited to work directly with Popsy to co design classroom inspired garments that we intend to develop into real products.
3. Bring Popsy into your school
We are also looking for schools interested in creative workshops where pupils can learn about product design, branding, pricing and how an idea becomes a real business.
Designed by teachers, for teachers
At the end of August, we plan to bring groups of teachers together for dedicated Popsy design sessions.
You do not need any fashion or design experience. What matters is your experience of working in a classroom.
- Help choose colours and print ideas
- Share what works and does not work in a classroom
- Discuss fit, comfort, movement and practical features
- Help shape the final garment design
- See your feedback developed into a real Popsy product
How the design project will work
Teachers co design
Teachers join small collaborative sessions and help us develop classroom inspired designs.
Popsy develops the garments
We take the ideas from the sessions into product development with the intention of producing the final designs.
The designs launch
The finished garments will be launched through Popsy, celebrating the teachers and schools that helped create them.
Not local to us?
We want teachers from across the UK and beyond to have the opportunity to contribute.
Depending on interest, we plan to offer a remote option for teachers in Scotland and internationally, with the possibility of joining by Zoom and receiving materials by post.
Tell us where you are based when completing the survey and register your interest at the end.
Could we bring creativity into your school?
Cherish, founder of Popsy, also wants to visit schools and show pupils how a creative idea can become a real product and a real business.
During the proposed workshops, pupils could create a garment idea, develop a business name, decide who the product is for, set a price and think about how they would market it.
Selected designs could then be developed by Popsy and turned into a real garment for their teacher.
Creativity
Pupils can turn an idea into a visual product concept.
Business skills
They can explore branding, audiences, pricing, marketing and how products are sold.
Real outcomes
Selected ideas could move beyond the classroom and become physical garments.
Why are we doing this?
Teachers are more than educators. They can be role models for confidence, creativity, individuality and self expression.
Sometimes something as simple as a colourful print or dinosaur dress can give a pupil an easy way to start a conversation and make a teacher feel more approachable.
We want to understand these experiences better, celebrate the teachers already bringing personality and creativity into classrooms, and see how Popsy can genuinely support schools.
We would love to hear from you
Complete our Teacher Creativity and Classroom Survey and, if you are interested, you can also register to take part in the Popsy Teacher Design Project or a school creativity workshop.
Take the Teacher SurveyQuestions
Who can complete the survey?
The research is intended for people currently working in education, including teachers, teaching assistants, school leaders and other education professionals.
Do I need to be a Popsy customer?
No. We would love to hear from teachers whether or not you currently shop with Popsy.
Do I need design experience to join a Teacher Design Session?
No. We are interested in your experience as a teacher and what you actually need from clothing worn in a classroom.
When will the Teacher Design Sessions take place?
We are planning the first sessions for the end of August. Selected participants will receive full details directly from Popsy.
Can teachers outside England take part?
Yes. We are exploring remote participation for teachers in Scotland and internationally, depending on interest.
Will everyone who registers interest be selected?
Places will be limited, so registering your interest does not guarantee participation. We will contact selected teachers directly.
Will photography or filming be involved?
Some parts of the project may be photographed or filmed. The survey asks interested teachers whether they would be comfortable with this so we can take it into account when selecting participants.
Participation details, dates and arrangements may change as the project develops.
