From trying to avoid a job interview, to an award winning fashion brand!
30th March 2017, a date we will never forget. A husband and wife from the Midlands with two little toddlers starting an adventure that nobody expected to go how it did!
I was previously a stay at home mom with very little confidence to go to a job interview. We decided to set up Popsy Clothing and the idea was I would be able to sell our dresses from our living room. Greg had a background in manufacturing and I wanted something where I could work from home while the girls were so young. The perfect way to make a few extra pennies to take the girls on days out. However life doesn’t always go as we planned does it!
We designed our first very small collection of dresses, made them in the UK and set up an Etsy shop. We shared our story and I quickly realised how many other women felt like me, lacking confidence! I wasn’t alone so we brought you all together!
BUILDING A COMMUNITY
We set up Popsy Clothing Frocks and Friends. A community of women who have all come together for friendship, dresses and everything in-between. Meet ups take place across the country where people meet in person for coffee, dinner or nights out.
Fast forward 7 years and we now have a community of over 200,000 women! We still design and manufacture in the Midlands and have been seen on numerous TV programmes! We have won multiple awards, worked with Gok Wan providing outfits for his catwalk, designed a dress that was worn to the Brit Awards, been to Downing Street and have been listed in Forbes.
Building Women's Confidence, One Dress At A Time!
We are now extremely passionate about helping women feel confident in what they wear. We give you a real say on what goes into your wardrobe! We have live videos, polls and are always getting your opinions on new prints and styles. Our customers even model our garments on the website.
We love fun colours, comfort and most importantly….we love a pocket! Our two girls have grown so much in the last 7 years and now get involved in our childrenswear too and have designed their own flares for the website.
Popsy has helped me so much with my confidence and being creative has opened up so many opportunities for me. I feel really strongly that this should be passed onto the next generation. Popsy donates fabric to local schools, works closely with teachers and is currently working on free learning resources. I also visit schools and universities as a guest speaker and to run workshops.
It has been an amazing journey and we know we are only at the start! We are so thankful to our customers and we can’t wait to see where our little brand from Nuneaton will go! So if you are new to Popsy or if you have been with us from the start we hope to bring you confidence and fun to your wardrobe!
